My rating: <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2470458779">5 of 5 stars</a><br /><br />
for the first time in my 35 years read the shining just a short 3 weeks ago, soon after watched the movie (which was nothing compared to the book, I actually hated every aspect of it), now I've read some of stephen king's novels, under the dome, salem's lot, but the Shining was brilliant and masterfully written. I read a few others when I finished the shining by other authors and then one day I picked up doctor sleep as it had caught my eye after each trip to the library. I will say it did take me the first 70 pages to really get into it, those were the longest pages of the book, but once it caught me it had me. The book never stopped pulling me in, and just when I was nearing the end and thought there could not be anymore surprises that I wouldn't see coming, it surprised me..a few more times. I grew to love Dan and became almost as proud of him as if he really existed, and loved Abra, and Billy, and Dr John, you just fall in love with the characters and despise the ones, truly despise the ones coming after the ones you love. Already having my next few books lined out, I decided to abandon that and start reading down stephen king's list of novels rated from best to worst (which his worst is still pretty great). I cannot wait to read more of his work.
